Healing Trauma

Healing Trauma

Welcome to a space where your healing journey is honored and supported with compassion, care, and a deep understanding of trauma. My approach to trauma therapy blends aspects of relational Gestalt therapy, somatic practices, mindfulness, and psychodynamic principles. By utilizing this approach, I can meet and support all parts of you. Whether you are seeking relief from recent events or exploring the long-lasting effects of past experiences, I am here to help you reclaim your sense of safety, connection, and inner peace.

Understanding Trauma

Trauma goes beyond the initial event by creating lasting impact on your mind, body, and relationships. It can result be the result of a single overwhelming incident or the cumulative effects of chronic adversity. Trauma can turn your sense of self around, leaving you feeling disconnected, stuck, reactive, and out of control. Healing from trauma involves more than just intellectual understanding—it requires resonance in all levels of understanding: mind, body, and spirit.

Relational Gestalt Therapy: Reparative experiences

Relational Gestalt therapy believes that the therapeutic relationship offers a space for healing and growth. Together, we will gently explore how past experiences shape your current patterns of thinking, feeling, and relating. This approach is centered in authentic, present-moment awareness and is grounded in an environment where you feel seen, heard, and understood. As we work together, you can experiment with new ways of being and connecting, cultivating a sense of empowerment and choice.

Somatic Approaches: Tuning in to Your Body’s Wisdom

Trauma is often stored in the body, manifesting as pain, tension, dysregulation, or physical discomfort. Somatic therapy helps you attune to your body’s signals and gently release held trauma when it feels right for you. Through expanding body awareness, grounding exercises, movement, breathwork, you will become more embodied in a supportive and nurturing way. This process supports emotional regulation, feeling more empowered, and resilient.

Mindfulness: Experiencing the Present in a New Way

Mindfulness invites you to anchor yourself in the present moment, away from past pain and future anxieties. Through practices such as guided meditation, breath awareness, and mindful curiosity, we will strengthen your capacity to approach emotions and sensations with care and compassion. Mindfulness not only cultivates a deeper sense of calm and clarity but also creates more opportunities to respond to challenges with greater awareness and intention.

Psychodynamic Therapy: Being with the Roots of Trauma

Psychodynamic therapy helps us to delve into the unconscious patterns and core beliefs that are impacting your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. By gaining understanding of the roots of these patterns—often formed in early relationships—you can gain insight and understanding into how trauma has shaped your inner world. This awareness not only allows for more compassion but also the integration of fragmented parts of your story, leading to more a cohesive sense of self.

A Holistic and Individualized Approach

Every person’s experience with trauma is different, and so is their road to healing. My integrative approach ensures that our work together addresses your specific needs, goals, and pace. By weaving together relational Gestalt therapy, somatic and mindfulness practices, and psychodynamic therapy, we will address the complex nature of trauma and create a comprehensive foundation for lasting change.
